DIY Baby Carrier

For those of you that don't know, I am a avid babywearer <3

So maybe you are wondering.... baby wearer?!?!?

Well here is it, babywearing...carrying your little one in some sort of carrier.

And there are MANY different kinds of carriers, that is a whole other blog post altogether.

But let's get back to why I am posting this blog.

I made a carrier!!!

My oldest daughter loves this type of carrier, and they are (or can be) pretty expensive so being the slick DIYer that I am, I put myself to the test.

I bought a tablecloth off amazon, that's right a Mahogany tablecloth. This is a very important part, choosing the right material. It has to be strong enough to support your little monkey. VERY IMPORTANT !!!!

and I researched patterns, this made my head spin.... all the choices.

I narrowed it down to a couple that had things that my daughter liked, wrap shoulder straps, hood, the strap waistband she liked.

SOOOO.... It took me longer to get the nerve up to cut the fabric then to actually sew the carrier together.

I didn't account for the hood so I panicked a little that I wouldn't have enough fabric for the waist band or waist straps.

but I came up with a plan and 

I laid out the pattern pieces and stared at it for some time...

 and then I began to cut out the shoulder straps

Hooray for the rotary cutter!!

then the body

the hood cut out 

Pinning it all together

all together, now for the waist!

the waist is pinned on....looking good

I am so in love with this carrier!

too bad I made it for my daughter.

before we send it down south Sophia had to try it out

Little Miss Sophia fell right asleep

And John said she felt weightless in the carrier.

I am one happy Momma!

Rompers!

OK who doesn't love rompers for little ladys??

I found this great pink gingham shirt. I was going tot make a dress out of it, but it just screamed make me into a ROMPER!!

  So that is exactly what I did

sweet backless Romper!

Perfect for these warm summer days ahead of us.

What is so great about this style is it can fit for a while, the neck tie is continuous through the back so you can tighten or loosen it, depending on your little ladys size.

stripes and floral

I got two XS petite women's striped cotton T-shirts, honestly they 

looked like they were already child size.

but with a little Refashioning they are child size now!

 Added a floral ruffle, refashioned the sleeves

 and neck line, pulled in the waist and BAM...

a cute dress for a little LADY

The Brown and white striped one go a draw string waist, 

 love the tie on the side, Sophia doesn't even notice it ;)

 apparently she has found something to chew on

I love clothes that can grow with your child

both of these dresses can fit a 2T through 5T

sundresses

It is SUMMER!

THANK goodness!!

the sun is shining and the kids are outside!

there isn't a better time for sundresses!!

check out these two refashioned sundresses

 This one is a soft pale pink and gray striped sundress, stretchy top and stretchy straps for a comfortable fit

this dress fits a 2-3T as a longer dress and 

can fit a 4T as a shorter dress and a 5T as a top.

yes this dress can fit for more then one year.

and the skirt measures  18inches from the armpit to the bottom

 I just love the it!

 with the blue flowered ties, makes this an easy fit around the shoulders

 This dress measures

22 inches around the chest (with room to stretch)

and 23inches from the armpit to the bottom of the skirt 

a size 5T

 sweet lace on the bottom <3

striped tunics!

tunic time!!

I had a bunch of striped T-shirts that I blogged about.

Sooooo...I made a couple of TUNICS!

Have I told you have much I love these little tops, for a little ladys they are almost a dress, yet the SAME tunic can be worn by an older little Lady as a top.

Kids grow so fast that I just LOVE clothes that last more then one season/year!

here is the green striped Tunic in action

 Extremely great for whatever this is........

 notice there are no restrictions of the arm movements 

 the tie is perfect for an easy fit!

 oh yeah, glad it pasted the stick chewing test!

 here is the other one that was made for Sophia's BFF

this is the before shot, this long sleeve top is really soft

 (can you tell I like soft clothes)

it is medium weight and stretchy

made a super cute draw string tunic

I can't wait to see this one in action!
